The Hong Kong Inter-University Postgraduate Symposium in Biochemical Sciences (hereafter referred to as “Inter-U Symposium”) is an annual event aiming to encourage communication and interaction between postgraduate students performing research in biochemical and biomedical sciences. Organized by The University of Hong Kong (HKU), The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), and The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), the Inter-U Symposium provides an excellent opportunity for students to participate in the exchange and generation of knowledge and ideas regarding current research topics in various research fields in biochemistry and molecular biology. Such topics include, but are not limited to, protein biochemistry, structural biology, molecular cell biology, signal transduction, molecular neuroscience, and biotechnology.
A one-day affair, the Inter-U Symposium is comprised of poster presentations and oral presentations. All research postgraduate students conducting research in biochemistry and molecular biology are eligible to present at the symposium. Two keynote speakers have been invited to the Inter-U Symposium to share their knowledge with the students and provide valuable feedback to the participating students. In participating in the poster and oral presentations, as well as engaging in dialogue with other students, guest speakers, faculty members, postdoctoral fellows and other staff, postgraduate students would be able to expand their horizons for improving their research work. In addition, students would have the means to establish and maintain new connections between postgraduate students, thus promoting inter-institutional research collaborations.
